Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
I had an apartment with my ex and we both were on the lease. We got evicted and now they are only coming after me to foot the $2071 bill from our eviction. They want to take me to court if I do not settle with payment plans. How can I get the complex to only let me pay half and make my ex, who was also on the lease pay the other half. Please help. They want to take me to court and garnish my wages and I have an 8 month old son that and I can't afford to loose the little money that I make.

If both names are on the lease, then they must sue both of you. I suggest you go to court with your copy of the lease and present it to the court so that they can see you are not the only responsible party. Then becuase you are now head of household, they will not be able to garnish your wages. Someone is trying to bluff you.
See my website on garnishment. Also, bring a claim against your ex in this suit. Go to the clerk's office to find out how to do it. Want to know the law?
