Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
If you assume a debt (credit card) in Maryland and the move to Florida, which statute of limitations applies to the debt. We opened a credit card in Maryland and now I live in Florida. I have a debt collector calling me constantly. The SOL for Maryland is 3 years and I think the SOL for Florida is 5 years.

You need to read the contract. Just because the contact was entered into in Maryland does not mean the contract says another state law applies. Most of the time it is a state where the statute of limitations is 6 to 8 years. However, most of the time the debt collector cannot prove up the contract. Depending on the size of the debt, you may want to contact a consumer lawyer like myself. see www.ConsumerLawyerHelp.com
