Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

auto loan debt

my wife was previously married. while married she co-signed an auto loan for her husband. since their divorce, her ex-husband has failed to consistently make payments on the auto loan. my wife has been getting phone calls from the lender looking for payment to bring the loan current and up to date. here is my question: is my wife responsible for any debt accrued by her ex-husband since their divorce? they have been divorced for over 3 years and she has not had any use of the vehicle in question. any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Re: auto loan debt

As a co-signer, the potential debt arose prior to the divorce. She has liability to the creditor. She should re-visit the matter with her divorce attorney.
