You have several options. First, most medical service providers are willing to work with you on reasonable payment arrangements. So if you have the ability to make payments then you should reach out and try and reach an agreement that works for you. You can certainly do this type of work on your own or you may retain an attorney to handle this for you, depending simply on whether you want to spend the time or spend the money.
Another option may be bankruptcy. If your credit is already damaged then a bankruptcy could help you revive your credit. You should consult with a local bankruptcy attorney. Most provide a complimentary, no obligation initial consultation.
Best of luck.
In addition, many of these bills or other bad marks on your credit score may be wrong. These bad marks can be removed. See an attorney who handles Fair Credit Reporting Act cases. I review these cases for free. See www.ConsumerLawyerHelp.com
