That message crosses the line of fair debt collection. There may be an element of truth to their message if the creditor plans to sue you for the debt. That means you would be served with a lawsuit by either a licensed process server or the sheriff's office. Don't panic if that happens, you have rights.

Although you may be able to pursue a claim against that creditor for a violation of federal law, you should likely consider your alternatives and consult with an attorney about creditor negotiations or bankruptcy.

I would be pleased to speak with you over the phone about this issue.

This is a violation of the Fair Debt Practices Act both state and federal. See www.ConsumerLawyerHelp.com for some guidance.
