Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
Our boat was damaged when transported to FL. A mechanic gave an estimate of $1200. Our ins co's adjuster assessed the damage and they cut a check for $1000. The mechanic then billed us for $2500. We asked the adjuster to reassess the work done. He agreed but the mechanic wouldn't make himself available to meet with the adjuster. We tried to tell him that once he met with the adjuster, he could get paid. Someone has since posted a lien notice on our boat and today we received a"Claim of Lien Notice of Sale of Vessel to Satisfy Possessory Lien" in the mail and it is demanding $5000 or our boat will be sold at auction. We don't know what to do next. Please help.
