Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

I had a car accident four years ago. I did not take rental insurance since I had full personal coverage. After the accident, I found out that my company had recently updated my policy and it did not cover rentals. I have medical bills unpaid and the rental car company wants to sue me for breach of contract and non-payment. I can't afford to pay them. What other options do I have?

At the date of the accident was your policy still in effect with the coverage. Also, was the accident your fault - big question. Otherwise you may have to declare bankruptcy as an option or see if you can negotiate a settlement

You may want to consider filing for bankruptcy. That would potentially wipe out the debt to the rental car company, and your medical bills, and other debt that you may have, such as credit card bills. Whether you can wipe everything out in bankruptcy depends on your income and assets. Our office handles a lot of bankruptcy matters in South Florida, and we'd be happy to discuss the situation with you. We offer a free initial consultation.
