Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
I took out a car loan with chrysler financial in 2002. I made my last payment in 8/2007. I thought my account was paid off. I don't remember if I got the title to the car or not. Today, Jan. 12, 2012 I call chrysler financial to get a copy of the title and was told the I need to call TD auto financial( they are handling the auto financing for chrysler). I called and they proceeded to tell me I still owed $1100.00 on the loan. I ask what the $1100.00 was for and they told me to call back in 24hrs because the loan is so old all the paperwork is in their achieves. I never recieved a phone or letter stating I still owed them money. I have not moved from my present address and still have the same phone number. I did claim bankrupcty in 2003 and I still was paying on the auto loan every month to keep the car. If i was late with a payment they would send me a letter telling me they were going to repossed the car if the payment was not made. Do I have any legal recourse or is there some sort of statue of limitations?

It seems from your description that the statute of limitations may have passed already. Consult with an attorney.
