Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Is a car lot allowed to go on private business property to take a vehicle without consent? I have a vehicle that i only owe $4700 out of a $16000 plus debt and they without saying went and picked up the vehicle from a shop without the owners consent. I tried to return this vehicle a year and a half ago when times got hard and they convinced me to keep the vehicle that they would work with me. I could not even use the vehicle for a trade in due to its value at a dealership.
