From your described situation, it appears the auto was not repossessed in accordance with Florida law regarding late payments. However, in your financial contract there may be

a provision allowing repossession for failure to provide change of address, multiple late

payments, failure to respond to creditor requirements, etc. A detailed review of your

contract is required to fully advise you. Also, the notice re repossession should inform

you as to how you can have the auto returned to your possession.

The devil in always in the detail. Have a consumer lawyer look at your contract. Be aware that you have rights when your car is repossessed and most of the time the repo people violate the law.
