Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Car repossessed with no lien or court order

A car that I am half owner of was repossessed. The company that ordered the repossession had no lien or court order.

The recovery company is taking the stance that they can repossess any car as long as they are told to, by someone that claims to be a lienholder.

Doesn't a recovery company have duty to make sure the repossession is legitimate? I mean shouldn't they have requested some documentation from the alleged leinholder?

Thank You
