Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

I took my cat to the vet b/c of life-threatening medical issues, and had worked out a payment plan to my bill. I till owe some money to them. They called to speak to me and I was not home, so they called my parents without my permission about this debt. I only gave them my parents' phone number on the forms for emergency back-up purpose and nowhere did I sign that they were allowed to contact anyone else regarding payment of my confidential bill. Is this legal?
