Charges on charge cards

My father just got his credit card bill and there is a charge on it from June 2007. They said that he charged $600 to his card and they are just billing him for this now. Is he responsible for something that he doesn't even remember charging and a year later. Thank you for your answer? Susan

The issue is did he make the charge and receive the benefit, not whether he remembers.
