Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
Chase Bank is reporting inaccurate information to the credit bureau's on my credit profile. I disputed with the credit bureaus first, as I have never had a chase account. When the item came back verified, under FCRA 623(8) I disputed this account directly with Chase and asked to see the documents that they used to verify the account by, such as the cusip number that was attached to this account, the account number from which payments came from, the alleged contract with my signature on it, and checkstubs in my name from the account showing specifically where I made alleged payments.
I asked for the documents to have something to compare to because I don't recall payments coming from my account going to Chase and I don't remember ever entering into a contract type agreement with them.
More than a year passed and Chase never showed me the documents that I asked for. In fact Chase only responded when I asked the CFPB to conduct an investigation. In the investgation Chase said they don't have the documents that's why they didn't show them to me but they stand by their verification and what they are reporting to the bureaus.
How can they report that they verified documents if they don't have them.. and if they didn't have any documents to verify against, how is Chase allowed to report to the bureaus---- Do I have a case and is there anything I can do to get Chase to stop reporting something that they cannot prove because It doesn't exists? what are your thoughts? is there anyone who can help me?
