Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Colection of debt.

In 1989, My auto was repossed in the State Rhode Island. At that time there was a Credit Union crisis in the State of Rhode Island, in which the governor closed the credit unions. I nerver heard a thing fron the Credit Union and they were closed down. Abouut One mouth ago I recieved a letter fom a Rhode Island Attorney stateing that the debt. must be paid or he would contact a local attorney for collection. Is there a a time limit for colecting such a debt. Should I contact an attorney for further legal advice Thank you

Yes, you should retain counsel. I would believe that the statute of limitations would bar recovery of the claim. However, there may overriding Federal laws that apply to the situation.
