Collecting On a Personal Debt Owed
In Dec. 1999, I loaned a coworker $6,120 dollars. He said that he'd repay me in 1 month. When it came time to pay he started making excuses and postponements. ... He then moved to New York City, where I found out that several people who he had borrowed money from before he moved to Florida were waiting for him and sued him when he returned to NYC. ... The only proof of the loan I have is in several emails in which he admits borrowing the money and promises to pay it back. However, it's been nearly 4 years of excuses and delays. ... I have not been able to contact him in 10 months. He does not return phone calls, emails or Instant Messages. ... I have subsequently found out that he also borrowed money from other former coworkers (Florida) and has not repayed them. ... It seems the only people he repays are those who take him to court. ... Are the emails enough evidence? ... And, what is the best course of legal action, if any. ... also, can i send copies of the emails to his employer, hoping they compell him to repay me? ... Retain counsel. Sue the individual. Dont waste more time. The statute of Limitation is running and may soon bar your claim.

I suggest you retain an attorney . You will lose the property unless some arragnement for payment is made.
