Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

collection agency harassment

what can i do about a collection agency who calls me 3-5 times a day belittleing me, harrassing me, and badgering me each time they call about a joint account with my exwife who was declaired responsible for the debt in the divorce decree? what can i do about this? can they legally keep calling me when a judge has declaired her the responsible party to repay the joint account? do i need to seek council to get these calls to stop or what are my options?

Re: collection agency harassment

In writing, direct it to make no further contact with you. Additional actions by the agency may give you a right of action for violations of the F.D.C.P.A.

Although your 'ex'may be responsible for payment, that Court order is effective as between you and your 'ex', not as to whom the creditor may seek payment.
