Re: collection agency
A collection agency is a company hired by the owner of a debt to perform the collection activities. The collection agency does not own the debt, so it cannot sue the debtor in its own name.
There are many companies which purchase debt, which means the ownership of the debt has been sold to the company which purchased it. The new owner of the debt can certainly sue you.
Hope that answers your question.
