Collection from an apartment complex.

I moved from an apartment complex in Florida to Texas and broke the lease contract. How long does a collection from an apartment complex stay on your credit report? How long do they have to collect the debt?

A debt may stay on your credit report for seven years from the date of last activity. Florida law will determine the statute of limitations to collect the debt.

Limitations is four years in Texas, five years in Florida on a written contract.
