Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
Collection for payday in advance
I received a payday in advance loan for an internet company in March 2006 for the sum of $200. I was paying $60 a pay period since and I get paid twice a month. In June 2006 my checking account the loan company was deducting their $60 from on pay day was closed. This company says that I will be taking to jail for check fraud. They say that I wrote a check against a closed account. I was willing to pay the company the $200 that I owed plus the $60 fee for the loan. The reprsentative from the collection agency said I had to pay the balance of $583 on June 28 2006 which is the same day that he contacted me. I asked him why $583 he said read my contract. I don't have a copy of the contract. He said it was not his problem and I needed to pay him one June 28 the total amount he requested or retain a lawyer because I would be placed under arrest. I did pay him $300.00 which I felt was more than they deserve but now they continue to call my job requesting more funds. I asked them not to call my job and they still do. My question is Can they place mw under arrest for check fraud? Do I have to pay the addition sum requested? or Is this just they scare tactics? Also how do I keep them from calling my job?

You should hire a lawyer because the colection agency is acting inappropriately.
