Collection Problems

I had a debt from credit card company that was bought by collections. Amount was 76 dollars, collection company said I owe 659 dollars plus their fees. Original company reported to credit report of balance of 76 dollars. Is it legal for collection agency to charge more than I owe?

No. But the real question is how much do you owe on the long outstanding debt.
