Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
Should I use Consumer Credit Counselors
I have credit card companies I owe money and haven't dealt with this issue for 2 years. I had no money to pay them and just avoided the calls because I just didn't know what to do without money to pay them. I was considering filing Chap 7 but just didn't want to go that route for $6000 of debt. But with the line approaching I thought maybe I should. Then I find out that it will run over $1000 and I just don't have that before the line. So, I decided not to go that route as I don't want to lose the tiny bit of things I own in my house over it. I'd rather try to just deal with this mess and try to clean up my credit. Should I use Consumer Credit counselors and use a Debt Management Plan if I qualify? I found them through National Foundation for Credit Counselors. It says if you use a DMP it will have a negative effect on your credit. My credit is already affected until 2012 so will it stay on my report forever or start it's 7 yr time on my report from the date I begin the plan? Or does the 7 yrs begin once the debt is paid off? Is the Consumer credit counsel the best route for me? I don't want to be sued and I want to deal with this before that would happen and my problems become unfixable. Thank you.

You have already made up your mind. Do you need assurances?
