Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
For a couple years now, I have been using a credit card in my fathers name. Never has it been paid late. It has always been paid on time. Recently,my father and I have had a falling out, and has reported the card as identity theft. Though at the time (2 years ago), he gave me his info to apply for the card, he is now saying he never did. As I stated earlier, the card was never paid late. I recently received a letter from the credit card company asking me to sign a statement of responsibility authorizing the credit card company to open an account in my name for the purpose of making payments and confirming my intentions to honor my obligation (exact words from the letter). Is this just a ruse or is it legit? I would like to sign it and put this horrible incident behind me..........

You should read the fine print of any agreement and make sure you are not admitting to id theft. Without seeing the document, this is the best I can offer. see www.ConsumerLawyerHelp.com
The procedure seems appropriate, but read the fine print.
