Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Credit card debt collection by a collection agency

I was contacted by a collection agency who purchased the original credit card debt of $1,556.95 from the actual credit card agency, The collection agency stated in a letter that if I did't pay the full amount 7 days, they would issue legal proceedings in the the county court. Can they do this? And what should I do, I don't have the money to pay this.

Thanks

Yes, if they bought the debt they can file a lawsuit against you. You may want to talk direct with an attorney, work out a payment plan with the creditor or if you have lots of debt think about bankruptcy. Also, go to www.helpwithlaw.com and sign up for the FREE get out of debt newsletter. Good luck.
