Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
Credit card debt collection by a collection agency
I was contacted by a collection agency who purchased the original credit card debt of $1,556.95 from the actual credit card agency, The collection agency stated in a letter that if I did't pay the full amount 7 days, they would issue legal proceedings in the the county court. Can they do this? And what should I do, I don't have the money to pay this.
Thanks

Yes, if they bought the debt they can file a lawsuit against you. You may want to talk direct with an attorney, work out a payment plan with the creditor or if you have lots of debt think about bankruptcy.
