Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Credit Card Debt

I live in South Carolina and I am in debt with several credit card companies. I have been able to pay the minimal balance on all of them except for one. They have now turned over my debt with a law firm in Flordia to collect. They have written me and called me asking for the money. Well due to low income and no family support, I am unable to pay them. I told them this and offered to send them a little money each month until I was able to pay them but they refused. Well I told them that I would write them a letter and give them a check each month. The attorney said, ''I don't owe him any money'' and hung up. Is there anything I can do and if not what will happen since I am unable to pay the debt? Thank you for reading this and I look forward to you response.
