Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
Credit Card Settlement
I have been working with a collection agency for over a month back and forth. I came to an agreement with them after I emailed them to send me a settlement statement in writing. They sent it but when I got it, they only gave me two days to pay it. I asked the rep why no more time was given, his reply was that they are not the creditor and they only give a few days to collect and that I can pay it over the phone by check draft or credit card. I told him I was not in agreeable with these conditions. A week later they called me again and told me I needed to settle my account. Once again I had emailed them a request in writing to settle the account with ample time to pay. His reply was I was past my date and I forfeited my settlement by not paying by due date, therefore, I needed to pay in full. Well, to make a long story short, what is the time frame a collection agency must give a consumer in order for settle out there account when an amount is agreed?

Re: Credit Card Settlement
There is no fixed time. Chances are the agency will be back and settle in the manner you wish.
