Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Credit information usage

I want to know why places like insurance companies, utility companies, and apartment complexes can use ones credit score against them, but yet all they report on ones credit is bad stuff. I think some law needs to me changed, or created to where if you don't report my monthly payment history to a credit bureau that you are not allowed to look at my credit. Meaning like if I go to rent an apartment, get insurance, or get utilities turned on they will check your credit to determine your deposit amount, but yet the only thing on my credit from any of these places will be if I didn't pay my bill when I left. Nothing on my credit shows that I paid my bill every month and on time. I want to find out what we can done to stop this. I am thinking a class action lawsuit.

Re: Credit information usage

I couldn't agree with you more. However, Congress provided immunity against the credit reporting agencies for anything they report against you. In other words, they cannot be sued, in a class action or otherwise.

Now that we have a Democratic Congress and a Democratic president, you may want to speak to your Congressman and Senator about having these laws changed.
