Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Credit rating affected by ex wife

My ex wife used a credit card that she got when we were married. All joint credit cards were supposedly cancelled at the time of the divorce.

4 years later she borrowed 26,000 from the credit card and defaulted on the payment. Since it was a card that she got when we were married the credit card company is charging both of us with the bad debt. I didn't know that she had the credit card and it was 4 years after the divorce when she used it, how can I get the credit card company to take my name and any involvement off of this bad debt? I have contacted Experian and told them the story so they are reviewing the matter. Will I need a lawyer? Is this considered fraud on the part of the ex? Do I call the credit card company and tell them the story and try to get them to remove me from the joint status of the card? Will I need to contact the other credit checking agencies to clear my credit?
