Debt Responsibilit

My wife's father died a couple of months ago and her mom had to be placed into a nursing home. She is getting calls from collectors trying to collect debt owne by her parents. Is she responsible for their debt? How do we make the calls stop?

She is not responsilbe unless she guaranteed or incurred the bills.
