Debts of a spouse prior to marriage

If a person is getting married and their soon to be spouse has debts and the spouse with the debts dies is the surving spouse legally responsible for these debts?

Re: Debts of a spouse prior to marriage

No. Only the party who incurred the debt is responsible for a pre-marital debt unless the other spouse voluntarily agrees to accept responsibility.
