Deceased estate

Is a wife responsible for the medical bills of deceased spouse. House owned is primary residence, life-insurance paid to wife (20,000.), car was in his name, transferred to hers, will names wife as sole beneficiary, wife is age 60, with only deceased spouse income. Could her credit or home be endandered if deceased bills are not paid by her? No formal estate was arranged, and deceased spouse had no other assets, nor any expected income, except retirement annuitity paid to surviving spouse through the Office of Personnel Manangement.(retired fed. employee)Did not find specific answers on previously posted responses. Thank you
