Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
I defaulted on a loan from HSBC and I work with HFC to cure the default. The rep says I owe 20,203.86 but they will not charge me any interest. This sounds great, but they don't issue written statements of my balance. I am concerned that if I do not have written proof of how much I owe I may be at their mercy at a later time, and if a discrepancy arises I will have no recourse. Are they legally required to provide this to me? Will recording my phone calls with them protect me?

Yes, you will be at their mercy. Get something in writing.
