Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Due to illness have huge debt

To whom it may concern,

I have been fighting a chronic ilness adn for 3 years haven't been able to work. Used up all my savings and 401K and now I'm financing my living expenses using my credit cards I owe $38K in 4 credit cards and I have been keepiing my payments current to keep from ruining my credit. 2 years ago, I applied for Social Security Disability with an attorney and now I'm waiting for a hearing date in front of an Administrative Judge to settle my case. I was told by my attorney and by the Social Security office that it wasn't advisable to apply now SSI at this time since I should be getting a hearing date soon (approx. 22.5 months from date filed so in the next month????). Furthermore, applying for Supplemental Income requires much effort (same as applying for SSDI) and can take a very long time to get a decision. I have no assets but only $3k in the bank and a car that's worth $3k. Could you advise what is the best course of action for me at this time?
