Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Dying Brother Living with Father, Who's Liable for Debit

I have an unemployeed brother, age 39, living with my father, age 82. Due to a medical condition, he receives and gov't assistance check each month. He has just been diagnosed with brain cancer that will take his life in 18 -24 months. My question has to do with any debits he may owe after his passing (credit card and medical bills). Is my father liable for those debits? And should my father remove my brother from his will to protect (the portion of inheritance assigned to my brother) his future assets from liens after my fathers death? What other considerations might we need to consider?

Re: Dying Brother Living with Father, Who's Liable for Debit

Your father is not responsible for the debts of your brother. If your father survives your brother he should change his will.
