Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
getting someone elses commission pay
There is a woman where I work that has a name one letter off from mine.Someone in payroll typed in my name & I recieved her pay by direct deposit into my bank account.I called my boss at once since I hadn't even worked recently. He told me it was retroactive pay because of a pay increase.I said okay, then the checks got bigger, so I called HR & that's when I found out about the payroll error.Nw they expect me to repay almost $600 which is quite difficult for me since I'm disabled. This started in January & from the first deposit I tried to figure out what was happening. With little success since no one returned my calls. The check stubs were mailed to my house with my name & social secruity info on them.My question is, do I really have to repay the money when it wasn't my fault?
