Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
I was enrolled with a debt consolidation company since 2008 for a Bank of America credit card to pay off $6,000 negotiated balance. On May 18, 2010, I received a summons from an attorney for said credit card for the amount of $9,009. The attorney does not acknowledge the consolidated program and has frozen all my bank accounts and is threatening to garnish my wages if I do not pay them $4,500 and $300 per month. I cancelled the debt consolidation contract but I am hoping that something can be done to rectify this horrible and stressful situation. I am a single woman with no financial assistance. Please help me.....
Thanks,
Kim Lewis

YOu need to get an attorney to look into the court filings for you ASAP. If you accoutns were garnished, you may have exemptions to be raised under Florida law as head of household, but you have time limits to address these issues so dont delay. You need to see a consumer lawyer immediately. Most debt consolidation companies are fraudulent. Want to know the law?
