Trying to fight erroneous charges from an online company.
I purchased a one-month reoccurring membership to an online personals website. Before the first's month's membership expired I emailed the company to terminate the membership. I received a confirmation email in return. On the subsequent month's credit card statements I noticed they had continued to charge me for the membership. I disputed this charge with my credit card company and it was removed. I also emailed the online company's customer service again to tell them and they emailed back saying that the membership was cancelled.
A few days ago I receieved a notice of liability saying that I had breached my agreement with them. Also stated in this email was a requirement of payment from them. They gave me 10 days to do so. I emailed back disputing their claims. As of a few days after this reply I wrote I have no heard anything back from them. And the days are counting down. I also made a Better Business Bureau complaint and called this online company to try and resolve this over the phone, but I was told by a rep of their company that I need to correspond through email.
What options do I have from this point?

It sounds like you have done a good job of papering your efforts to cancel the service. Some of these on-line services use particular services that request you go through the service before turning to the credit card company to dispute the charge. That being said, dispute it as you have done, make sure they do not continue to charge them, and if they continue to harass them, tell them they no authorization to continue to use your credit card and any further unlawful use will be considered a conversion and potentially a crime by the company.
