Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Finding a person who owes personal debt

We loaned a relative $2,000 and have a legal contract with her social security number. Is there a person or company who can find her (she skipped town) and or help attach her wages, and do it for a cost low enough to make the effort worth while? Thank in advance.

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

It is hard to say what you consider what is worthwhile. An attorney will probably charge you a fee for the amount of time that it takes. You can shop around for the attorney you are most comfortable with.

Be sure you understand that it is almost impossible to garnish the wages of the head of household in Florida. If the relative has a spouse who is the head of household, then her wages will not be protected. Other assets remain fair game.
