Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

FL Credit Card Debt

Both parents are listed jointly on 2 credit cards that total $14K in debt. My dad is recently deceased so my mom would owe. She only has mobile home which is protected by FL Homestead laws, a car loan of $22K, a monthly life insur. annuity of $2K and $1200/mo from Social Security. The credit card people are not receptive to 50% settlement. Should my mom file bankruptcy protection before they seek a judgment and garnish her checking account? Please advise and thank you.

Without knowing the full nature and extent of your mother's assets, liabilities, income and exoenses, as well as not being licensed to practice within the state of Florida, I would not be able to give you a prudent answer to your question.
