Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Florida Judgement

I have a judgement from 11-29-1995. The individual just refiled it with the clerk's office on 09-27-2007. Since he did not renew it within 7 years is it still valid and if not how do I get the judgement stopped from future collection efforts? How long before there can be no longer collection action?

Re: Florida Judgement

Renewing the judgment is only necessary for it to be effective as a lien against real property. The judgment is enforceable for 20 years.

The judgment is good as a lien against real property for a 10 year period from the date of first recording and can be renewed for an additional 10 year period if renewed before the first ten years expired. It remains as a judgment against you for 20 years whether or not it is renewed.
