Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Forced Payment Of A Purchase From A Stolen Credit Card

I applied for a credit card, while I was home. I left for college and never received the card. Several months later I get a bill for over $2000. I notified the police of the situation and I was given a police report. I advised the credit card company that I never received the card and that I did not make the purchases on the card. I also told them that I can prove that I was away at school at the time. They now want me to pay a settlement of $1215 or they will take me to court for the full amount. Is this legal, can they make me pay for something I did not purchase. Thank You for your help

Re: Forced Payment Of A Purchase From A Stolen Credit Card

They cannot force anything. They can sue. Be prepared to dispute the matter in court.
