Re: foreclosure

Foreclosure defense can be very complicated. I understand that your goal is to attempt a loan mod, but you really need to put some time and effort into filing an Answer to the Foreclosure Complaint.

For right this second, you should file a Motion for an Extension of Time to File an Answer. This type of motion is customarily granted for 20-30 days. In the meantime, you need to speak with a debt attorney who has experience handling foreclosure defense cases to determine whether you have any real legal or equitable defenses to the foreclosure. You might not, but there is a fair chance you have some that you might not be aware of.

If you would like, you can call our office for a free 10-minute phone consult. we should be able to tell you quick enough what steps need to be taken next. But, if you want to hire a local attorney (which has distinct advantages as well), then you want to make sure that they have true foreclosure defense experience. Now is not the time to hire dabblers. Your home is on the line.
