Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
geting monet your boss owes you
I went to pay for gas I got for a company vehicle with a company credit card. It was declined so iI paid for it myself. When I talked with my boss he assured me I would have the money the next day. Now five weeks later and a bunch of untruths about the money, I still have not received my money. The amount was$ 77.65. What should I do and how far can I take this, since I am sure I will eventually lose my job when I contact his boss.

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.
You do not need to take this far. You should ask for reimbursement from your company. Failing such, then your next option is to file a Statement of Claim in Summary Procedure (small claims) Court for the monies owed. You do not need an attorney.
Unfortunately, if you get terminated because of this situation, there would probably be no redress in a court of law as Florida allows an employer to fire and hire employees at will. You can file for unemployment but that is probably all that you can do.
