Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Gym fees Financial

I'm trying to leave a health club and to leave its finance department keeps on adding on fees upon fees and it has come to the point that I have refused to pay any more.

One of the areas that have been a problem is that the company had been taking money from my account without my permission so I had placed a stop on the account and now the company would like to change me for this also. I have kept all the paper work and tried to even keep record of my phone calls, but I just do not know where I stand legally and wish not to be taken advantage of any further.

Am I now in trouble and will my credit now be ruined?

The company would never have had access to your checking account unless you gave it permission to do an automatic debit, which may have been a condition of membership. You have to read the contract very carefully, or seek the assistance of a lawyer to interpret the contract for you. Until you know precisely where you stand in relation to the contract, you won't know where you stand, legally.
