Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Harassment and third party notification

In March, 2000, I found an organization online touting itself as an ''online seminary''. There were no fees listed online, but the ''director'' of the organization told me the cost would be $450 for a Master of Divinity degree which I immediately paid in full via an online payment service. I wrote a thesis, submitted it and received a crappy-looking one-sheeter printed on a home computer printer with misspells everywhere. But this gets better. He started sending me harassing emails, insisting I still owed him another $350. For what?! All I received for paying my original $450 and sending in a thesis was one sheet of paper, which I returned to him. That's it. But he continues to harass me online and at work (he has sent my employer several emails, threatening to contact local media if my employer doesn't make me pay ''..(my) uncollected debts''). I have asked him to stop harassing me and my employer just laughs and throws out the emails, but enough is enough. What recourse do I have?

Re: Harassment and third party notification

I would contact an attorney on filing a Fair Debt collection lawsuit for money damages. Also, I would contact the Federal Trade Commission, (they have a homepage on the web) on this obvious scam. Good luck.
