Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

I have been helping an older lady and her older disabled daughter for over a year now. During that time, this lady has been giving me money which I worked for. Now she is threatening me because she says that I owe her thousands of dollars. There was no written contact, but she has copies of checks she has given me. Does she have any legal recourse in this matter?

This could be a problem. Florida Statute 415.1111 deals with abuse, neglect. and exploitation of vulnerable adults. The devil is always in the details, or as here the facts. If you received a lot of money and have nothing to show for why you received it -- no bills and receipts etc. -- and or it is disproportionate to what you did, you could have a problem. I suggest you contact a lawyer to determine if you have a problem.
