husband with car debt is in poor health

Dear Attorney,

My sweet husband will not be on the eath much longer. He has a car debt of $6000 The value is $4000 I am NOT on the loan. The bank said they would have to do a credit ck and rewrite loan in order for me to keep it. I guess I should let them repo when the time comes. Do you agree? Thank you for this forum.
