Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Is my husband reponsible for my and my ex-husbands debt?

Could my current husband ever be held accountable for my and my ex-husbands debts? I am being harrased by a collector who says my wages will be garnished and my property taken. I have no wages, I stay at home with my son, and nothing is in my name due to my credit.Could this effect my husband? We were not married when these debts took place. This is over a 3,000.00 debt 2,000.00 of it is intrest and late payment, over limit fees, I tryed years ago to work out a settlement, I was told first that I didn't have enough money to settle, then they said they would take 1,500.00 a week. I explained that I could not do that, and was then told not to bother, It would just be a permanet mark on my credit. I thought that was it. Now this!

Although your question is not clear, the general rule is that each person is responsible for his or her own debt. Acordingly the answer is, no.
