Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Inherited double wide trailer

My husband's father passed away nearly 5 years ago. He left no will and everything was left to my husband. His lawyer sent out paperwork to Greentree mortgage company to let them know about the death. They have refused to put the trailer in my husband's name unless we get it refinanced. We don't want the trailer but have been paying the mortgage for 5 years because we are not sure what to do. My question is, do we have any obligation to the trailer? Can they come after us if we stop paying for it or will they just come and take it away? They are charging us outlandish insurance rates and we cannot get our own because they will not put it in my husband's name. Also, it is nearly impossible to get a trailer (in that condition) refinanced for more than it is worth. (It is a double wide mobile home). My husband owns the land, they are not tied in together.

Re: Inherited double wide trailer

Since you do not have title, you have no obligation. In fact, if they refuse to pick it up, you should charge for storage.
