Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
Joint Credit Card Debt with Ex-Girlfriend.
An ex-girlfriend and I had a line of credit extablished when we moved to Florida. She transfered $5000 of personal debt into the account and was paying it until we broke up. I have absolutly no debt associated with the account. We had documents drawn up stating who was accountable for what but she has stopped paying. Her credit is trashed (her car has even been repoed amongst other things) My credit is flawless except for this. The credit card company has contacted me to let me know I will be sued in 45 day. What can I do? Small claims court? Eat the $4000 [remaining]? etc.?
